05/05/2023: Press Release – Church Binbrook Bells
The village of Binbrook is excited to announce the repair of its historic church bells, which have not rung in nearly 30 years. This momentous occasion coincides with the upcoming coronation of the King, and the bells will be rung to celebrate this joyous event for the first time on Sunday 7th May 2023 at 4pm.
The bells, located in the tower of St. Mary & St Gabriel Church, have been an integral part of the village for over 150 years. However, due to wear and tear, the bells had fallen into disrepair and had not been rung for almost three decades.
Thanks to the generosity of the ‘Time Lords’, a group of local villagers who look after the church clock and tower, and the tireless efforts of the group, the bells have been restored to their former glory. The restoration included homemade wood steamers, wood and metal work, and the refurbishment of the bells themselves.
Time Lord, Phil Wallis said, “The church should be the heart of the community and we hope more people will get involved in enjoying it and improving its facilities. We thought that the Coronation was a perfect time to undertake the bell refurbishment project . We are grateful for the help and expertise that has been given and allowed us to make the necessary repairs .It took a lot of work but we are delighted the bells will all be ringing again.”
The ringing of the bells will mark a historic moment for Binbrook village and its residents. The King’s coronation is an event of national significance, and the bells of St. Mary & St Gabriel Church will play a vital role in the celebration. It will take place on the day of the village coronation street party, Sunday 7th May at 4pm, and all residents of Binbrook are invited to join in the celebration. The bells of the church will once again be a proud symbol of our village’s heritage, and we look forward to hearing them for years to come.
Patrick McEuene, the vicar of Binbrook, said, “The restoration of the bells is a significant achievement for our community. We are proud to have them back in working order and look forward to hearing them ring out for the first time in 30 years.”
The church trustees brought in The Rt Revd Professor Barry Peachey, to ensure the repairs were approved and bell ringers from the region have been practising in preparation for the coronation celebrations. Their hard work and dedication will ensure that the bells ring loud and clear, filling the village with joy and excitement.

02/09/2022 As a parish near to the town of Louth, Louth Town Council is very aware that many of your residents may have been affected by changes made to the town centre in Louth. These measures (mainly the removal of parking along Mercer Row and in the Cornmarket area) were implemented by Lincolnshire County Council as part of the Active Travel Scheme.
Louth Town Council wants to work with the community to find solutions for consideration by Lincolnshire County Council and East Lindsey District Council. It is aware that there are many different opinions about the scheme, and as such, it seems necessary to obtain as many views as possible.
To facilitate this, Louth Town Council will hold a public meeting on Tuesday 13th September from 6.30pm at the Royal British Legion Hall, Northgate, Louth.
The Town Council has also created two short surveys; one for town centre businesses and the second for Louth residents and visitors to Louth.
If you would like to make your views known, please complete the relevant survey online, which can be accessed from:
https://www.louthtowncouncil.gov.uk/active-travel-scheme-surveys/
A hard copy version of the survey can also be downloaded from the website or you can call the Town Council offices on 01507 355895 for a copy to be sent to you. The survey runs until the end of September 2022.
